The Compass at Margaritaville Hotel Mural
Medford, OR
2022
Commissioned by Tribal One, a 100% owned and operated Native American company, who owns a number of buildings and property in the Medford, OR area. They built the hotel and kept the neighboring Roxy Anne Lanes Bowling Alley open and running, although the exterior of the alley wall faced the hotel. I was hired to decorate that wall after they saw my other work in Medford for the Southern Oregon Historical Society.
We went with a colorful, tropical inspired Margaritaville themed, accordion style design to fill the elongated wall. I used an AI algorithm to generate images using prompt words, and collaged those together to form the design. It was SO MUCH FUN to paint! I completed one panel per day and spent three weeks there. The best part is that the hotel guests can see the artwork from their windows. This was a $25k commission. My largest for a single mural ever!
Bus Stop Koi Pond
Dubuque, IA
2022
After being selected from a national pool of artists, I won an opportunity to paint this faux Koi pond mural for a bus stop in Dubuque, IA. I also had a sculpture on display in that town at the Mississippi River Walk. They have a strong municipal art program there!
Brewery Fire Outdoor Dining Area
Taneytown, MD
2022
The second section of a Sci-Fi themed exterior mural for the incredible Brewery Fire…the worlds first Sci-Fi theme Brew Pub! The minute after I finished the first section years ago, the owners, Dave and Jesse and I, began dreaming of what the next section would look like. A dance floor for sure. And it had to have Spock dressed like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Four years later…it’s a reality!
The Brookeville Beer Farm
Gaithersburg, MD 2022
Commission to paint twin silos for the Brookeville Beer Farm with a sunflower theme and logo, after they saw my work for the Elder Pine Brewery and Tasting Room, also in Gaithersburg. The flowers were painted using Montana Gold brand spray paint, while the logo is a vinyl cut out. This was an extremely difficult task applying the auto grade novel wrap material to the ribbed metal, all hanging off a ladder suspended above a retaining wall and driveway. Luckily I had my son Jacob helping me.
Commemorative mural in park heights
brings bitter sweet moment to the baltimore community
George Mitchell Sr fought to have this abandoned school transformed into a community center, complete with a free library, computer lab, business resource center and food pantry. He was a beloved member of the community and was universally missed after his passing in 2020. Neighborhoods United received a grant for $10,000 for a public art project and decided to use those funds to hire me to design and paint a memorial mural in his honor, outlining his accomplishments in the Park Heights area of Baltimore City.
The unveiling event in late October 2021 was a huge success and an incredible testimony to his impact, with Attorney General Marylin Moseby, former Mayor Carl Stokes, and countless City Council members in attendance.
The Southern Oregon Historical Society Mural
Medford, OR
2021
After submitting designs for a $20,000 National Request for Proposals sponsored by the Medford Arts Commission to design, facilitate and produce a transportation themed mural on this 30’H x 97’W wall, on the side of the Southern Oregon Historical Society building in downtown Medford, I was selected for the assignment.
I scheduled 10 days to execute the project after months of remote back and forth tweaking of the design, which includes some important, specific planes and vehicles significant to southern Oregon.
The blank sky area in the upper right corner will contain a new SOHS logo and sign coming soon.
The Barbara Frietchie mural
Historic Frederick, MD
2021
The Frederick Arts Council held a national Request For Proposals to create a mural honoring the courage of local legend Barbara Frietchie, to be finished and unveiled by July 4th, at the Barbara Frietchie Guest House, which is now an Air BnB after spending years as a museum. I was selected from a pool of artists to paint this mural including a portion of the famous poem written about her.
The unveiling event included live music, a reading of the poem by “Barbara Frietchie” herself in costume, A Commendation from the Mayor of Frederick, and other regalia. I was honored to have a permanent piece of art in this beautiful and prominent town.
